We took a drive Saturday toward Oscoda and stopped at The Lumbermen's Memorial located within the Au Sable River Park. The monument and surrounding trails were developed and opened to the public in 1931 to memorialize thousands of lumbermen that risked their lives to harvest Michigan's great pines and then send the timbers to states where trees for building were scarce. If you live in Michigan and you've never been there it's worth the trip. We picked a great day to drive over from the cabin and enjoy the veiw along the Au Sable River and a walk through some of the trails.
